Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of the Ionian Islands

The organization supervises 356 schools of primary and secondary education in the Ionian Islands (Corfu, Paxi, Lefkas, Cephalonia, Ithaca, Zante). It also supervises 4.224 teachers (2.132 of primary and 2092 of secondary education) and 28.051 pupils (16.645 of primary and 11.046 of secondary education). The number of staff is approximately 50 civil servants. They are edudation coordinators, teachers of different fields and administrative servants.

Scope of work is planning and modulation of the educational policy. The Regional Directorate organisew and fulfillw a lot of educational and cultural activities, various training programs and information meetings.

Junior High School of Ithaca

Ithaca high school is a small school with 85 students and 18 teachers. The school is located in Vathi, the capital of Ithaca, which has 3.180 inhabitants. Vathi is a picturesque town with a peculiar bay and it has been characterized as a special natural beauty.

In the high school 15% of students are of Albanian origin and 17% are students with special educational needs.This is why the school has an integration department and a reinforcement teaching program.

Junior High School of Lefkimmi

The school is a junior high public regional school with 187 students and 16 teachers. The students’ age ranges from 12 to 15 years. The school is located in Lefkimmi, a provincial tourist town 40 km south of Corfu. Lefkimmi is the second largest town on Corfu island and there is a river running through it. The area itself has a long history and archaeologists believe settlements existed in the area as far back as the Palaeolithic and the Neolithic era.

Istituto Comprensivo S. Bagolino

I.C. S. Bagolino is a school that includes Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary low school. There are about 770 pupils aged from 3 to 13. It has 75 teachers, including add-teachers, who help students with special needs. During the school year, the school develops lots of projects, financed by national institutions such as P.O.N. projects. Furthermore the school has several previous Comenius and Erasmus+ experiences. The school is located in Alcamo in the north west coast of Sicily. The demographic of the school population is influenced by a low number of foreign immigrants.

Sacred Heart Minor Seminary

The Sacred Heart Minor Seminary is a Catholic boys’ secondary school run under the auspices of the Diocese of Gozo.The school strengthens the students’ individual and academic formation whilst keeping abreast with the latest technological innovations, which facilitate teaching and learning. The school hosts around 370 pupils. There are around 75 members of staff (including teachers, LSEs and administration staff).

Escola Salvador Espriu (till September 30th , 2021)

It is a primary school with 412 students from 3 to 12 years old. The school has 32 teachers including 5 English teachers, Music teacher, two Special Needs Teachers and two PE teachers.

The school is situated near Barcelona and most parents commute to Barcelona to work. Montgat is a village of 11,900 inhabitants. At the same time it’s a village by the sea that becomes very busy during the summer time.

The total number of students is 412 most of them come from low middle class. There are 18 students with special needs and 10 families with low economic background.

IES Sierra Bermeja Málaga (from October 1st , 2021)

The school is located in one of the most popular neighbourhoods in the north of Málaga (Spain). There are about one thousand one hundred students, 95 teachers and a team of twelve janitors. The school offers secondary education studies, A-levels, special needs classes, different vocational training studies which include Social Integration, Experts in Auxiliary Nursery Care, Technician in Assistance to People in Need of Care, Higher Technician in Pre-Primary Education.

They have some European projects approved for teachers and students and they have also carried out Exchanges with Italy, Poland, Germany and Holland in which our students have learned English and different cultures and habits. 

They have got an Erasmus+ project approved on Education, Citizenship and Heritage. Sharing European experiences. They are also running a project with teachers to attend courses anywhere in the EU.
